Network Management System

With networks getting more complex with the addition of more frequency layers and types of radio configurations overlaid with new scenarios and new use cases, mobile operators need to evolve the way they manage their networks. The traditional Network Management System (NMS) needs to be able to scale to cover a wide variety of configurations ranging from macro coverage areas to indoor coverage, different frequency bands, support a wide variety of use cases, infrastructure that could be disaggregated from the software and support carrier-grade network virtualization based technologies for web scale networks.

The Altiostar management software is a standards compliant system, with a strong set of applications for delivering management, configuration, monitoring, optimizing and troubleshooting elements in the network that have been deployed using Altiostar open vRAN solutions. It includes 3GPP IRP compliant interfaces for OSS integration and scripting support.

The Altiostar network management software has a tiered and modular architecture where client, server and data are separated with well defined interfaces. The Altiostar management software implements a high availability architecture and design that can be used for a large network (10’s of thousands of sectors) in a fully redundant configuration.

In addition to this, Altiostar management software can be deployed in an NFV configuration. This can be done by implementing it as a virtual function in a carrier-grade NFV platform and interfacing to an orchestrator. With virtualization, the benefits of pooling, software healing, geo-redundancy, lifecycle management, software upgrades, centralized management and commission can be achieved.
